POETRY – MOON PATH (for Menopause & Perimenopause)

Midnight sheets barely stir
On the line where I left them.
Wondering if they’ll still be white come daybreak.

“It’s so quiet out there.”
The moon lingers, questioning
Counting days on silver fingers.
She rests a knowing, waning gaze upon me.

“Where is the breeze?”

Bare-breasted, I lean from the window.
Searching for sleep,
Begging the tide to turn.
“Soon.” She whispers.
