It never fails to amaze me where a journey or rabbit hole can take you without even leaving the house! The imagination and curiosity that can come from a few words read, that lead to a conversation and then the desire to see for oneself.
This morning we finished up reading Queen of the Falls about the lady who went over Niagara Falls in a barrel. I picked up our latest Charles Kovaks book and read aloud the next chapter which happened to talk about Mount Vesuvius erupting and devastating Pompeii.

“So you see, that song we all love so much is actually really quite sad isn’t it?”
Silence…I asked the girls if they hadn’t recognised the historical story in the lyrics before now and played it for them again. This time though, we thought about how terrifying it would be to actually have been there.
A quick Google search later, and we’d looked at Mt Vesuvius itself and also located it on the map and then we stumbled across a couple a YouTube video on BBC Teach about it all and the casts made of the people once there.
“Can we visit one day?”
“I hope so!”
