Doing More

We’ve had an awesome couple of weeks. So much sunshine, visiting and playing with friends and rich conversations. These recent days have been a great example of doing more when you wonder if you’re doing enough!

We went for a walk. With friends and chatted about metal detecting finds. We discovered Castle an Dinas, and came across the UKs longest winged dragonfly the Golden-Ringed Dragonfly.
Going for a walk had us doing more.

The boys skimmed stones on the beach at some of the furthest distances I have ever seen!

Our friends had board games we’d never played before and we learnt how to play them. We camped out in a spectacular thunder storm.

Back home we dug up our potatoes and carrots, made obstacle courses, and practiced matching capital letters to their lowercase pairs.

We read about what makes something alive. That sent us off down a rabbit hole talking about breathing, pulse and heartbeat, CPR and how blood carries oxygen to our brains.

We read Much Ado About Nothing and talked about why it is a comedy, who William Shakespeare was and why we still remember him today.

We checked that we knew what negative numbers were and also how the numbers of houses here generally go up in twos – one side odd, one side even.

We watched reruns of the Gilmore Girls and discussed how to spot if someone is manipulating a conversation in a way that results in you feeling bad about yourself. We talked about how one of the characters had tried to be brave but was left feeling unsure of their own state of mind and how that is painful to experience and why it was wrong.

We had friends over to play. Went to the play park and walked the dog. We chose books from a house that was giving some away. We made little books out of origami paper.

Doing more is easier than wondering if you’re doing enough.
