Adulthood

Are we preparing them for adulthood?

Today my 5 year old asked if she could make her own hazelnut spread sandwich rather than wait for me to do it. Negotiating a step, cupboard, twisty lid, knife and bread bin while I got a lie in.

My 10 year old debated the pros and cons of “docking” lambs tails and hiked for longevity.

My 14 year old arranged her own social calendar around her revision. She sourced a spare bike for a friend to accompany her on a ride out and repaired its brakes in readiness.

My 16 year old negotiated a later curfew and reaped the benefits of keeping to her word.

My 18 year old arranged and completed a successful, independent 5 day wilderness campout in Derbyshire.

My 19 year old continues to develop his skill set in the working environment with dedication and determination. Making his own way in the world independently, putting in the hours and continuing to be reliable and hardworking.
