Christmas Traditions

Traditions are a wonderful part of being. They are there to remind us, to comfort us and to bring us continued joy as we smile on, watching our families recreate them. But…
They are not rules.
They can be left where they are, in our hearts and memories. Fondly residing in tales from when we were young. Old photographs and keepsakes.
They do not need to be taken onwards forever binding and unbreaking.
A tradition should be a joyous affair not a misery or cause for stress.

I have brought to my families lives many traditions from my childhood and created many of my own along the way. I want my children, however old, to feel like children again whenever they step into our home. That they may always be comfortable here and that they may want to bring their new young families and friends into what I hope will always be a warm and welcome place for them to share happy times.
But…never to feel beholden to a memory of Christmas Past. It brings me joy enough to know I did what I could when I could to bring love, magic and spirituality to my children and home.
