Being Fun

Sometimes as a parent I find myself sitting on the sofa almost unable to move because a) I feel depleted and b) because I have no inspiration. It comes and passes in phases. There and then not there. It can truly be hard at times to find the “Gee-up” button.

Sandra Dodd’s words of encouragement give me hope and lift me on the “meh” days.

“Live a light and playful life…
Play with your children, and gently…
Be glad when things are fun.
Help them to be so.”

Even when I cannot play myself or my day feels less than light, I can still be gentle. And my children need no help finding fun, so even at my lowest ebb, I can be glad when I see them enjoying themselves and it lifts my spirits.

I can certainly and at the very least, help fun to be so. I can expose my children to things they may find fun within. I can smile encouragingly from my seat or blanket. I can be kind and gentle, patient and sweet.
