Today I’ll walk slowly, so you can keep up.
I’ll talk softly and listen for you in the raindrops.
I’ll look for you in the warm candle light,
I left burning to remember.
How have I wandered a year through time?
Close enough to sense, too far to touch.
I don’t even look the same anymore,
The mirror betrays me.
I wonder about the day that will come
When I don’t see your face
As I close my eyes. When I have to
Try to remember your voice.
Not just the things you used to say.
Maybe it’s coming.
I wanted to ask you, “Why?”
Why do you keep me awake,
Yet avoid my dreams?
Can you come? Did you leave?
Or are you holding my heart
Because I can’t hold your hand?
