We have recently been trying out a new groove. Everyone has responded really well to the vibe we have going on and seem keen to discover and try some new things. I’ve decided to be more consistent with my strewing and to have the girls check out what’s on offer first thing in the morning. This has a lovely effect of bringing them together, involving them all and meeting them where they are at age wise. They have found fun colouring flags of the world, making a Good Samaritan board game and rolling beeswax candles this week.

After they’ve accepted or rejected my strewing – which is quite simply suggestions from me on areas I feel they could do with investigating or discovering – they then move to focusing on self development. Breaking off to work on areas they have previously decided to give special time to. While the older girls have been working independently it has given me & River some special time to bake, read stories, play games, sing songs & snuggle.
The girls often like to bounce on the trampoline or do a workout together & afterwards comes a lovely part of our morning where each girl gets to work on their own interests. It’s a time for projects whether they are ongoing or done in a day. The key is that the girls don’t have to participate. I trust that at any point during the day or week my girls will have personal projects on the go that they dip in and out of. This time is set out to bring us all together again and importantly, so I can help them with what they need but if they really don’t feel like focusing at the time or want to work somewhere quieter, they can.

After lunch we like to have our read aloud time and this is one part of motherhood I will cherish forever. Gathering around reading good books and journalling!
Come the afternoon I like to complete my chores or get into my own projects and the girls either join me with their own or we all wander off to do our own thing, normally rejoining when someone gets hungry!
